Welcome from our Program Director

It is a pleasure to welcome you as the Program Director of our Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. We could not be more excited about your interest in our program. The program is based at both HCA Florida JFK Hospital and West Palm Beach VA Hospital.

Our ACGME accredited three-year fellowship program is very clinically oriented with the primary goal of allowing graduates to practice every aspect of cardiology in a clinical setting.

HCA Florida JFK Hospital serves the entire central Palm Beach County population and provides every aspect of cardiovascular care with the exception of cardiac transplantation.

Fellows are fully integrated into the entire spectrum of cardiovascular care and are mentored by general, electrophysiologic, heart failure and interventional cardiologists.

While the fundamental or driving force of the program is to teach cardiology to the trainees, it is of the utmost importance that this is accomplished in a pleasant, non-threatening, collegial atmosphere. It is my philosophy that while learning can occur in a very structured and rigid environment, I have found that being flexible and having realistic expectations seems to result in excellent training outcomes. The success of our graduates is noteworthy, and we are very proud of our accomplishments.

Clearly, regardless of your decision we wish you nothing but the best of luck and look forward to you joining our Cardiovascular workforce.

Mission Statement

The HCA Florida JFK Hospital Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders.

As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

This program is designed to offer fellows a rewarding, educational environment where fellows are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the fellows' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding fellows' perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values and ideals.

Program Overview

The HCA Florida JFK Hospital and the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center are pleased to offer our ACGME accredited Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. Our general Cardiovascular Fellowship will be focused on clinical cardiology including both acute and chronic conditions.

Two fellows in each year will rotate on the consult service, the heart failure service, which includes the sickest patients in both the cardiology and intensive care units. Additionally, fellows rotate through the cardiac catheterization and Electrophysiology (EP) laboratories. With over 300 open heart surgeries, one of the busiest TAVR sites in the country, and an EP lab that performs the second most number of procedures annually in the southeast United States, full exposure to all aspects of cardiovascular disease will be readily available. The fellows will also have experience in advanced heart failure treatment, including mechanical circulatory device therapy and noninvasive imaging laboratories, including CT, CMR, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography. Given the increasing emphasis on outpatient care, the fellows will have one half day per week of outpatient clinic. The fellows will serve as the patient's attending cardiologist.
