Program Overview
The HCA Healthcare JFK Medical Center/ University of Miami Miller School of Medicine GME Consortium Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program participates in all rotations at HCA Florida JFK Hospital. JFK Hospital is a 558-bed acute care medical and surgical facility known for its variety of comprehensive services, including 24-hour emergency services, cardiovascular care, cancer care, breast care, neurosciences, stroke care, general, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery, orthopaedic care, spine care, bariatrics, sleep disorders, and wound management. These services provide strong educational and clinical resources for the ACGME-Accredited residency and fellowship programs functioning on the campus, including the sponsoring Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease programs. The fellow has the opportunity to train and interact with learners from the internal medicine residency program of the sponsoring institution during their time in the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program.
HCA Florida JFK Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute is the largest cardiovascular service program in Palm Beach County. It has an Accredited Chest Pain Center, a Primary Stroke Center, and was the first hospital in Palm Beach County to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR). The HCA Florida JFK Hospital also has a busy cardiac catheterization laboratory in which rotations for the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program are held. The lab performs over 2400 cardiac catheterizations and 850 percutaneous coronary intervention procedures annually. In addition to high volume TAVR and TMVR, HCA Florida JFK is a site for cutting edge clinical trials involving percutaneous tricuspid (TRISCEND II Trial and TRILUMINATE) and mitral valve interventions (APOLLO Trial).
