Brian E. Wood, DO, DFAPA

Program Director

Dr. Wood is a Graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and trained in general Psychiatry at the Eastern Virginia Medical School where he also served as Chief Resident. He completed fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine, Roanoke/Salem program. Over the course of his career, he has held multiple faculty positions at Eastern Virginia Medical School, West Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Virginia and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has served in multiple GME roles including Associate Program Director and Program Director prior to coming to LewisGale and has published multiple articles and book chapters in the field of geriatric psychiatry. He continues his research interests in neurocognitive disorders and medical education.

Dr. Wood has also served in multiple roles within the psychiatric community including President of the Southwest Virginia Psychiatric Society and the Psychiatric Society of Virginia where he remains active in affairs affecting Psychiatrists and patients with psychiatric illnesses throughout the state. He is currently employed as the Medical Director and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem Virginia where he also directs the psychiatry residency program there and works with multiple residents and students.


James K. Moles, MD

Associate Program Director

Dr. Moles is a graduate of University Of Virginia Health Sciences where he completed a five-year residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. Over the course of his career, he has held faculty positions as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Dr. Moles was previously a staff Psychiatrist for Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA. At LewisGale Medical Center he works in the Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic.


Jessica Jeffrey, DO

Associate Program Director

Dr. Jeffrey is a graduate of Edward Via Virginia Osteopathic Medical School in Blacksburg, Virginia. She completed her training in general psychiatry, and subsequently a child and adolescent fellowship, at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic Psychiatry Residency Program.

Dr. Jeffrey has cared for patients in both community health settings as well as telehealth, and enjoys seeing pediatric patients in clinic as well as supervising residents in training in general psychiatry.
