Mimi Sen Biswas, MD, MHSC

Program Director

Dr. Biswas, Cardiology Fellowship Program Director, received her B.S. at Caltech and her M.D. from UCLA School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Cedars-Sinai in LA, then fellowships in Cardiology, Women’s Health, and Masters in Health Science, at Duke University Medical Center. She specializes in cardiovascular imaging, prevention, and women’s heart health.

Sandeep Sangodkar, DO FACC

Associate Program Director

Dr. Sangodkar received his B.S. at UC San Diego and M.S. at Georgetown University prior to medical school at Western University. He returned to Southern California after residency at University of Chicago and fellowship at University of New Mexico. His passions include preventive care, treating underserved populations, and non invasive imaging.


Core Faculty

Georges Abou Rjaili, MD, FACC

Dr. Abou Rjaili specializes in complex coronary and peripheral arterial interventions, structural heart disease including transcatheter aortic valve intervention, and minimally invasive vein ablation procedures. He is well trained in radial artery techniques and has a special interest in preventive cardiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology.


Jeremy Cox, DO, FACC

Dr. Cox has been involved with teaching as core faculty with the HCA/RCH Cardiology Fellowship program since its inception in July 2020. He has teaching experience as clinical faculty with UCR going back to July 2016 in Internal Medicine. He focuses on imaging and is board certified in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Vascular Ultrasound Interpretation.


Kaustubh V. Patankar, MD, FACC

Dr. Patankar has been in practice for over 30 years after completion of his Cardiology Fellowship at the UCSF and Interventional Cardiology at the prestigious Galichia Institute in Wichita, Kansas. Highly experienced in various cardiovascular procedure he is also involved in several hospital and medical boards. He is Board Certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine.


Joseph Quan, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Quan completed his cardiology fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He co-founded the cath lab at Riverside Community Hospital in 1986 and specializes in calcific coronary artery disease with mechanical atherectomy. Dr. Quan experienced the evolution of interventional cardiology from its infancy and would like to pass on his knowledge to the cardiology fellows. He enjoys golfing.

William M. Suh, MD

Dr. Suh is the current Chair of Cardiology and specializes in complex interventional cardiology and structural heart disease such as TAVR, TEER and LAA occlusion.


Alain Waked, M.D.

Board certified in cardiology interventional cardiology, American society of Echocardiography and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Dr Waked finished his interventional structural and peripheral training at Vanderbilt University in 2013. He has been in private practice since and currently is clinical associate professor at UCR. He enjoys teaching fellows and is well rounded in all aspects of cardiology.
