Rotation schedule

Categorical internal medicine residency program

Our program uses the “4+1” scheduling system. During the “4” week blocks, you will engage in rotations spanning various specialties. The “+1” week is dedicated to continuity clinic, offering five half-days for clinical practice, two half-days for research and quality improvement projects, and three half-days for didactic sessions and simulation lab experiences.

We offer focused curricular tracks for residents seeking to explore careers in Hospital Medicine and Primary Care. The major curricular threads include involvement in group quality improvement projects, teaching of business operations, enhanced point-of-care ultrasound training, and additional clinical experiences. Residents selected for the Hospital Medicine track will attend the national American College of Physicians conference annually; and those in the Primary Care track will attend the Society of General Internal Medicine conference annually.

Preliminary internal medicine residency program

Our Preliminary Medicine residency program is available for residents seeking a year-long training experience within Internal Medicine prior to pursuing other specialties. The Preliminary Medicine residency program is similar to the 1st year categorical residency program. Our preliminary residents do not rotate through outpatient continuity clinics; instead, preliminary residents have additional weeks of elective rotations.
