Alina Popa, MD, Program Director
Dr. Popa received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania; and completed residency in neurology at the County Hospital Timisoara. Upon coming to the United States, she completed her residency at St. John's Episcopal Hospital/SUNY Downstate in New York. She later earned a certificate in clinical research and completed a fellowship in internal medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She was director for medical education at University of California, San Diego Division of Hospital Medicine and a core faculty member of the internal medicine residency program. Her interests include medical education, faculty development, leadership in medicine, evidence-based medicine, quality improvement, and patient-centered rounding. She is a clinical professor of internal medicine at UC Riverside.
Scott Kubomoto, MD, Associate Program Director
Dr. Kubomoto received his medical degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internal medicine residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is an assistant clinical professor of health sciences at UC Riverside.
Andrew Hwang, MD, Associate Program Director
Dr. Hwang received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internal medicine residency at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, CA. He is an assistant clinical professor of health sciences at UC Riverside.

Dr. Chae received her medical degree from Stanford University, School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency training at University of California, Los Angeles.
Dalia Dawoud, MD, Nephrology
Dr. Dawoud received her medical degree from Ain Shams University College of Medicine in Egypt. She completed her internal medicine residency at Capital Health System in New Jersey; and her interventional nephrology fellowship at University of Alabama.
Sahar Eivaz–Mohammadi, MD, Hospital and Geriatric Medicine
Dr. Eivaz is an associate clinical professor for internal and geriatric medicine at the UC Riverside, Chief Medical Director for Alertive Healthcare medical group. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from Azad Tehran University, residency in internal medicine at Jersey City Medical Center affiliated with Mount Sinai School of Medicine, serving as chief resident, then completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at UCLA. Her interests include hospital medicine, geriatric care, healthy aging, and palliative care.
Mohammad Kharazmi, MD, Hospital Medicine
Dr. Kharazmi received his medical degree from University of California, Irvine. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Mary Medical Center, affiliated with University of California, Los Angeles. He is an assistant clinical professor of health sciences at UC Riverside.
Hoveda Mufti, MD, Hospital Medicine
Dr. Mufti received her medical degree from Baqai Medical College in Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, affiliated with Brown University. Her interests include mentoring residents, diversity, anti-racism and equity training in medicine and the role of environmental factors in endocrinology. She is an associate clinical professor of health sciences at UC Riverside.
