It is an honor to welcome you to our residency family.

You have reached a pivotal milestone in your journey as a physician. The transition to residency is both demanding and rewarding. At this stage, you are no longer observing medicine, you are actively shaping patient care.

The St. David's Internal Medicine Residency Program is built on three core pillars: clinical excellence, academic curiosity, and patient advocacy. Our goal is not only to train skilled physicians but also to develop future leaders, educators, and compassionate clinicians who will shape the future of healthcare.

We foster a culture of mentorship that prioritizes your growth. Our faculty are dedicated partners in professional development, providing guidance across diverse clinical settings from intensive care to longitudinal outpatient care. We are committed to maintaining a supportive environment that values psychological safety, encourages questions, and promotes resident well-being.
Our didactic curriculum aligns with the ABIM certification blueprint and includes weekly academic half-days led by expert faculty. Clinical training offers a wide range of in-patient and outpatient experiences, including POCUS, addiction medicine, and healthcare systems. The 4+1 schedule supports balanced learning by separating inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.

St. David's Medical Center, our primary training site, is nationally recognized among top hospitals and serves a diverse patient population, offering residents meaningful exposure to the social determinants of health.

Beyond training, Austin provides a vibrant environment for both personal and professional growth.

We encourage you to bring your curiosity, integrity, and individuality to our program. We look forward to supporting your success.

Sincerely,
Asm Manzur Islam, MD, FACP
