Program overview
The HCA Houston Healthcare/University of Houston (Clear Lake) General Surgery Program aims to provide residents with a thorough clinical experience in diverse healthcare settings. This experience will help to develop their leadership skills, their ability to work well within a team, their professionalism, and their communication skills. Residents will also have ample opportunity to perform a wide range of surgical procedures, preparing them for a career as a general surgeon or pursuing a specialized fellowship. During the program, residents will gain familiarity with the latest technological and procedural advances through various educational and clinical experiences, including time spent in the operating room. The program also includes rigorous feedback, evaluation, and assessment procedures to ensure that each resident receives the appropriate autonomy and oversight based on their demonstrated clinical skill level and training.
