Our program was established in 2019. Over 30% of our 84 graduates (2022-25) remain affiliated with our hospital as fellows or teaching faculty. We have on-site fellowships including Cardiology, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Nephrology, Nephrology/Critical Care, Gastroenterology, and Critical Care. Residents may obtain Certificates of Qualifications in Primary Care, Hospital Medicine, or Subspecialty.

Our comprehensive didactics curriculum follows the blueprint for the ABIM Certifying Examination. Our residents attend conference every day at 12:15 pm, led by our faculty, experts in their field. Clinical rotations are a diverse array of inpatient and outpatient experiences including POCUS, wound care, addiction medicine, and hospital administration.

In 2022, we opened a brand-new residents continuity clinic within a 5-minute walk from our hospital: Kingwood Internal Medicine Specialists. The patient population gives our trainees experience in navigating the social determinants that impact health care in our community. Ambulatory medicine is taught using Yale Outpatient Modules and the AMBOSS curricula.

Our residency utilizes a 4+1 system, which minimizes disruptions by separating the inpatient from outpatient environments. Our residents have nearly 60% of their weekends off during residency because they are not expected to work weekends during elective and clinic rotations, allowing trainees to focus on their families and personal well-being.

HCA is the nation's leading employer of graduate medical education. They provide national monthly board reviews, Residents as Educators course, and a pub-med indexed journal.

Our hospital is nationally ranked among the top 100 in many service lines. HCA allows residents to complete one self-directed certificate course each year from a selection of disciplines including Women's Health, Palliative Care, and Disaster Management.

Kingwood is located near lakes and state parks, minutes from Houston's international airport (IAH), and 20 miles north of the most diverse city in the country.

We hope that you consider us for your internal medicine residency.

Sincerely,
