Throughout your fellowship , you will be challenged to think critically, problem solve effectively and provide compassionate care to your patients. Our goal is to help you develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the ever-advancing field of pulmonary and critical care medicine.

We are excited to meet you and hear your career journey during your interview process.

About our program

The HCA Houston Healthcare/University of Houston (Kingwood) Pulmonary Disease Program will provide fellows with comprehensive experiential learning and didactic activities, medical knowledge, and procedural skills to diagnose and manage respiratory system disorders. The curriculum will be designed to equip fellows with the skills necessary for independent practice and leadership in healthcare teams. To achieve this, we provide clinical exposure in various areas, such as a pulmonary physiology laboratory, pulmonary rehabilitation program, outpatient clinics, bronchoscopy service, respiratory therapy, and a sleep laboratory. The fellows will gain experience and expertise in interpreting, communicating, and documenting findings of thoracic radiographic imaging, pulmonary function testing, pulmonary pathology, and laboratory analysis to develop effective, patient-centered treatment plans. Faculty members and the GME research director will provide educational activities that cultivate the fellows' knowledge and skills necessary to synthesize and critically interpret the literature, participate in quality improvement projects, and conduct research. The sponsoring institution and program will endeavor to retain fellows as pulmonary disease subspecialists and faculty who provide the highest quality, compassionate, comprehensive care.

Training occurs in 4 facilities: HCA Kingwood, HCA Medical Center in Houston, Methodist Transplant institute in San Antonio and UT Tyler . Training in San Antonio and and UT Tyler will focus on enhanced exposure to lung transplant and Cystic fibrosis/bronchiectasis respectively.

We take feedback from our fellows and faculties seriously and make changes to optimize the training and educational environment.

Thank you for your interest in our program. Please feel free to reach out to us for any additional information.
