We are Houston's newest vascular surgery training program, and we hope our trainees will reflect the growth and diversity of our city. Our aim is to tap into the rich history of Vascular Surgery in Houston and prepare our trainees for the exciting future of our specialty. Our trainees will participate in the breadth of vascular surgery from investigational, complex, and routine. Read on for more info!

About our program

Our 2-year program is accredited by the ACGME and is designed for graduates of general surgery residency. You'll treat sick patients in cardiogenic shock on ECMO, do complex open and endovascular aortic surgery, then participate in groundbreaking clinical research. You'll also have rotations in outpatient-based labs where you'll learn efficiency in outpatient dialysis access and endovascular peripheral arterial cases. Open femoral-pedal bypass or complex endovascular repair? You'll learn both.

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is a 457-bed, level II trauma center, and is our GME headquarters for the greater Houston area. Our fellows lead a team consisting of general surgery residents and University of Houston medical students.  Our Medical Center Campus is the tertiary receiving center for complex cardiac and vascular cases. You’ll rotate between the two campuses your first year with one month for research and dedicated ultrasound training.  Second year, we add rotations at HCA Tomball and in a busy outpatient-based lab.
