Welcome from our Program Director
We welcome you to the HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood/Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine Transitional Year residency program. At HCA Healthcare, our single mission drives us: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. This mission is not just a statement but a commitment that inspires and motivates us every day.
HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is a 457-bed Level II Trauma-designated hospital. We offer subspecialty resources such as interventional radiology, neurosurgical services, interventional cardiology, and trauma surgery. We are proud to partner with the University of Houston College of Medicine, which prioritizes primary care and aims to improve diversity and inclusion in medicine while serving underserved patient populations.
Our transitional year program consists of thirteen residents and provides one year of postgraduate training, focusing on medical and surgical subspecialties. Our purpose is to prepare residents to explore inpatient and outpatient clinical experiences in the internal medicine field while helping them build a strong foundation in medicine. The program is sponsored by our Internal Medicine residency program, with whom we share a strong collaborative working relationship.
We have developed a diverse and shared internal medicine and transitional year didactic curriculum and weekly board review sessions tailored for the Step 3 board exam. Our open-door policies emphasize transparency and communication. We are here to support you in your journey and career path in medicine and beyond.
