The Hospital has been recognized by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) as a Statutory Teaching facility, only one of 23 locations in the state. Statutory teaching hospital
HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a designated Statutory Teaching Hospital by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
The Statutory Teaching Hospital designation is granted to hospitals with at least 100 or more full-time equivalent resident physicians in seven (or more) different graduate medical education programs. The programs must be accredited by the Council on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association or the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
This designation means that HCA Florida Largo Hospital provides clinical education and training to future and current doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in addition to delivering medical care to patients. Most teaching hospitals are affiliated with medical schools or universities. HCA Florida Largo Hospital is affiliated with USF Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida through the HCA Florida Division GME Consortium.

Currently there are 10 graduate medical education programs including Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, Psychiatry, and Transitional Year residency programs and Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary Critical Care and Rheumatology fellowship programs.
