The Medical City Fort Worth Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program's mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. Our faculty are committed to ensuring the residents' clinical experience and educational needs are fulfilled while expanding residents' perspectives to be inclusive of cultures, values, and ideals.

Program overview

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at Medical City Fort Worth is designed to provide the trainee with high-quality instruction and experience in all aspects of general and selected specialty cardiovascular areas.

The two-year program is ACGME accredited for one approved position. Residents may be accepted into the program only after successfully completing three years of general internal medicine residency training. Program working hours are generally 7:00am to 7:00pm with rotating on-call schedules. Fellows receive a total of 20 days of paid time off which can be used for vacation, personal needs, and holidays.

The curriculum includes a core of didactics which are molded after the core competencies in the COCATS document. These didactics will be delivered through the cardiology lecture series presented by faculty and cardiology fellows which include weekly cardiac catheterization conferences, cardiovascular conferences, journal club, EP lecture series, nuclear medicine lecture series, and daily academic rounds on all rotations.

The program provides extensive participation in clinical cardiac patient care services. Fellows will be exposed to a variety of cardiac clinical settings including both diagnostic and interventional catheterization including percutaneous coronary intervention, electrophysiology, pacemaker/IFC/atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation ablations/arrhythmia management, cardiac stress testing, coronary artery bypass and cardiac valve surgery, TAVR and the Watchman procedure.

The base training institution is Medical City Fort Worth. Continuity outpatient clinic training is provided at the base teaching site as well as at affiliate sites (in the ambulatory care facilities of the teaching faculty).
