Thank you for your interest in the Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium.

The Sunrise Health GME Consortium General Surgery Residency Program is dedicated to prepare residents that will provide excellent patient-centered surgical care, behave ethically and professionally, and demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning in a community setting.

Our mission is to provide excellent surgical training that prepares our residents to independently enter private practice, academic practice, or specialty fellowships. The Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium prepares residents for careers across the spectrum of Surgery. Although we are a young program, our graduates have matched into a wide range of fellowships throughout the country upon their completion of training.

There is a strong emphasis on hands on experience during the five years of training. Our program provides a wide range of diverse cases. Our faculty is dedicated to resident education and consists of highly-trained and skilled general surgeons as well as subspecialty surgeons.

The Surgical Faculty is dedicated to the development of technically competent and well-rounded surgeons. Residents will be expected to gain a strong medical fund of knowledge as well as develop strong clinical judgement skills to render comprehensive quality care to the general surgical patient.

The surgical curriculum is designed to cover the core competencies as described by ACGME through didactic encounters, interactive simulated educational activities, operative experience and clinical research in General Surgery.

We welcome residents who share our enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to learning. After completion of our accredited five-year general surgery residency, you will be qualified to practice independently and will become board eligible in General Surgery.

I look forward to reviewing your application.

Best wishes,
Nancy Rivera, MD, FACS
