Thank you for your interest in the HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital Transitional Year Residency. Our program launched in 2016 and we are excited about the continued growth of graduate medical education (GME) at our institution and the exciting academic opportunities it provides.

Our Transitional Year Residency program is an ACGME-accredited one-year training with 14 positions intended to prepare residents for their chosen categorical or advanced residency program.

It is tailored to meet all ACGME requirements for PGY2 advancement in areas such as anesthesiology, radiology, dermatology, radiation oncology and physical medicine and rehabilitation while providing broad exposure to a variety of surgical and medical subspecialties.

We provide residents with a balanced year in multiple clinical disciplines and in preparation for their chosen categorical or advanced residency program. Residents will be instructed throughout their clinical rotations on fundamental clinical skills and diagnosing and managing a broad range of clinical problems through direct patient care.

We consider all candidates who apply to our program through the ERAS application service.

The Transitional Year Residency is sponsored by the internal medicine and family medicine residency programs of HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. The faculty are dynamic and highly motivated and take pride in mentoring our residents into excellent physicians.

Residents will apply their knowledge in basic and clinical sciences and their interpersonal and communication skills to provide outstanding and compassionate care while they treat diseases and promote health in the community. Residents will be held to the highest standard of professionalism and system-based practice as well as an evidence-based approach to promote health care.

All residents are required to participate in a quality improvement project, research and scholarly activity.
