The Orange Park Hospital (OPH) GME Psychiatry Program is a 4-year ACGME-accredited 16-position program, providing a diverse, culturally sensitive, training environment since its inception in 2017.

Residents develop robust skills in assessment, formulation, and differential diagnosis, and give personalized treatment through lifecycle-informed biopsychosocial approaches. Clinical care is delivered with compassion and respect, using patient safety and quality measure principles.

Residents gain progressive experience across varied services and sites, preparing them for board certification, fellowship training, and broad career options, including inpatient, outpatient, consult liaison, intensive outpatient/partial hospital, and community psychiatry.

Our dedicated faculty, many with fellowship or subspecialty training, individualize supervision. Residents learn to perform ECT, TMS, and emergency psychopharmacology, and participate in forensic experiences. Our program has strong psychotherapy training and scholarly activity. All residents complete data-driven projects, including quality improvement, database analysis, or prospective clinical research. Dedicated research support is provided for academic activities, including external presentations and scientific publications.

The ACGME six core competencies are mastered through comprehensive didactics, clinical rotations, and oral and written evaluations. Residents acquire proficiency in life-long practice-based learning and improvement.

Our residents work with other ACGME-accredited OPH GME programs, including family medicine, emergency and internal medicine, cardiology, dermatology, general surgery, and palliative care. Teaching and professionalism skills are gained in multi-disciplinary settings and through specialized elective coursework, supervising medical students and junior residents, and through education and advocacy in the community and with professional societies.

We encourage all candidates to apply to the OPH Psychiatry Residency Program through the ERAS application service. Thank you for your interest!

Sincerely,

Barbara L. Gracious, MD
