The Interventional Cardiology Fellow will spend the majority of their time in the Catherization Laboratory as part of the diverse team of healthcare professionals.  The fellows are directly involved in caring for patients from their first day at Orange Park Hospital.  At the end of the year, fellows will be proficient in all aspects of cardiac catheterization and all different types of coronary interventions.  In addition to their work in the lab, fellows also have responsibilities in an outpatient office setting one day per week. Here, they provide care to patients undergoing pre-procedural and post-procedural treatment.

The Interventional Cardiology Fellow will have exposure to the following:

  1. Intracoronary stenting
  2. Rotational and laser atherectomy
  3. Saphenous vein graft intervention
  4. Primary and rescue PCI for acute myocardial infarction
  5. Left and right ventricular assist device placement
  6. Chronic total occlusion revascularization, including dissection re-entry and retrograde approaches
  7. Intravascular ultrasound, Fractional flow reserve, instantaneous wave-free ratio, coronary flow reserve, Optical coherence tomography
  8. Peripheral artery balloon angioplasty, atherectomy and stenting
  9. Complex invasive hemodynamic studies
  10. Structural heart exposure: TAVR, Percutaneous valve in valve in multiple sites, Percutaneous repair of mitral valve regurgitation (TEER), Percutaneous repair of paraprosthetic regurgitation, Closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect, Left atrial appendage closure, Balloon mitral valvuloplasty
  11. Endovascular neurosurgery exposure: Acute ischemic stroke thrombectomy, intracranial venous and arterial stenting, carotid stenting, cerebral aneurysm repair

Outpatient Clinic

The Interventional fellow will spend one day each week at the outpatient clinic with key faculty. The fellow will evaluate patients before and after coronary, structural and peripheral vascular procedures among various cardiovascular conditions.
